Developed in the context of the pandemic, this exhibition revisits the imaginary and speculative programming strategies of an art center amidst the uncertainty of the period. Com [en present d’indicatiu] (translating to “How. In present indicative”) is the result of testing new formats halfway between performance and exhibition, between conversation and contrast, between artists and curators, between in-person and virtual.

More than twenty perspectives spread over six different moments, centered around a fragment of Enric Casasses' poem, El nudo la flor (The Flower Knot):

“How are you going to take things?

As they come.

How will you stand up to them?

As I can.

How are you going to look at me?

As you wish.”

Bunga was part of a collaborative performance with Pía Sommer and Joana Rodda, who describes:

“Carlos's installations create spaces that embrace endless possibilities, unique experiences that question concepts such as stability, truth, and permanence, and, as in Pía's case, emanate something temporal and ephemeral. Pía's work could be inserted into Carlos's constructions, but when the three of us met, we thought: what would happen if we did it the other way around? What if it was Pía who was constructing now?

For our COM, we propose an inverse exercise. Pía will construct a space with her sound and her body, which Carlos will interpret with his pieces. A COM that will happen there for the first time, like a blind date where you are guided by the references and comments of others. The work of the two artists will meet for the first time within the framework of this event and can be seen there and now, and perhaps now and in many places.”
